"Have you ever found someone you just knew you were meant for?"
I sit here pondering exactly what that means for me...b/c really, the only way I'm going to get it is if I can define it for myself. I've always had really high standards and I've never been one to settle. That may be one of many reasons I am still single...but I know that special someone is out there for me. Not only b/c I've been told on several occasions that I will be one of the lucky few who spends the rest of my life with my soulmate, but because I've always believed it in my heart.
Let's see, what is extraordinary? Someone who takes risks and doesn't look back. Someone who understands me. Someone who kisses me in the rain. Someone with whom I can have hours of conversation and not get bored. Someone inspiring. Someone who'll dance around the world with me. Someone motivating. A man who introduces me to the unknown. A great lover. My best friend. An animal person (as I plan to have a house full). Someone who appreciates the small things in life. An adventuresome outdoor lover. Someone driven. Someone who loves to travel, be it a weekend trip to a B&B in the woods or a week away in Italy. Someone who is fascinated by culture and music as much as I am. A book enthusiast. A movie lover. Plays the guitar. Willing to sing to me. Sends me a card just to let me know he's thinking about me. Doesn't consider Valentine's Day as the ONLY day to be romantic and thoughtful. OMG, have I mentioned a sense of humor (absolute MUST). Someone willing to stick it out...through thick and thin. Someone who challenges me. Someone who takes my breath away just by a glance or the slightest touch. Someone who appreciates my strength and independence. Someone I can grow old with. Someone willing to hold my hand as we stroll down the beach. A star gazer. Planner of picnics at the park including the essential swinging. Someone who doesn't take life too seriously. Someone willing to fall and get back up. Someone I can wrestle with over the last piece of cake. Someone ridiculously wonderful (at least most of the time ;) Someone willing to deal with my Nascar obsession...lol. Someone not afraid of extraordinary. Someone who doesn't settle. A great cook. My puzzle piece.
Basically, I want it all...and I know when it's meant to happen, He'll come into my life.
Hah, I feel like I just wrote a personal ad and yet know that I don't want someone coming to answer it anytime soon. I've realized in the last couple of days I'm not done with my alone personal time. There's a lot for me to figure out before I can become all of the things above for anyone else. Some wounds need to heal. Some more writing and meditation need to take place. And when my ideal day becomes complete and I wake up next to the love of my life, I'll know everything that's happened up until now was all for a reason.
The following song is always what I've dreamed as being our song (I've mostly been with someone who's despised country music...but I think the words still ring true...perhaps country music lover should be up on the list but maybe I'm getting too picky?! lol).
Rascal Flatts : God Blessed the Broken Road
I set out on a narrow way many years ago
Hoping I would find true love along the broken road
But I got lost a time or two
Wiped my brow and kept pushing through
I couldn't see how every sign pointed straight to you
Every long lost dream led me to where you are
Others who broke my heart they were like northern stars
Pointing me on my way into your loving arms
This much I know is true
That God blessed the broken road
That led me straight to you
I think about the years I spent just passing through
I'd like to have the time I lost and give it back to you
But you just smile and take my hand
You've been there you understand
It's all part of a grander plan that is coming true
Every long lost dream led me to where you are
Others who broke my heart they were like northern stars
Pointing me on my way into your loving arms
This much I know is true
That God blessed the broken road
That led me straight to you
Yep, you can say I want the fairytale. The thing is, I can envision the day in my future when I'm going to have it. And that makes me smile. =)
